About the event
Visit Lukang Folk Cultural Relics Museum and Ding Jinshi's Residence
The Lukang Folk Cultural Relics Museum was originally the ancestral home of the Gu Xianrong family, one of the earliest Taiwanese families. In order to preserve the traditional culture of Lukang, the Gu family donated their ancestral home and collections. Now it is a cultural relic display museum with local characteristics and considerable historical significance. The museum is divided into two buildings, the "Gufeng Building", a traditional Minnan-style building with a history of 200 years and a nearly 100-year-old Baroque building "Yanglou". The museum collects folk artifacts from the Qing Dynasty to the early years of the Republic of China, allowing visitors to experience the life and culture of the upper class at that time, and also presents the lifestyle of the early Taiwanese ancestors who pioneered the frontier.
Ding Family Mansion is located on the old street of Zhongshan Road in Lukang . Early ancestors of the Ding family crossed the sea to Taiwan and operated a cross-strait trade company in Lukang . During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Ding Shouquan, a descendant of the Ding family, passed the imperial examination and served as the president of Baisha Academy. Ding Family Mansion was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It is a long house with one sloping and one falling. It has a storefront, deep well, waiting room, middle well and hall. The architectural layout is relatively rare.
